Academic Requirements:

Highers

English A-C and Nat 5 Maths or equivalent (or must be gained by the end of Year 3).

HND/Degree
Relevant HND from a college in Scotland or equivalent.

Home Economics
The most suitable HNDs include both a practical element and a theoretical side in food or in fashion, e.g. HND Fashion and Textile Technology, HND Professional Cookery.

Technological Education
The most suitable HNDs are in engineering and include Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Jewellery Design and Manufacture, CAD, Environmental, Aerospace, Naval, Architecture, Marine, and Product Design with Engineering (but not Product Design alone).

Please note that we can also accept qualifications that are equivalent to an HND from a Scottish college. This should include at least 240 credits with at least 120 of these from Level 8. The content of the qualification should cover the elements outlined above in the Home Economics or Technological Education route.

Academic Requirements:

For entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes we'd look for 70-75% in all subjects taken at level XII and the same at level X. Marks should be particularly strong in the proposed area of study.

Academic Requirements:

The Higher Secondary Certificate is sufficient to apply for undergraduate programmes at Strathclyde if excellent marks have been achieved (ie over 75% in all subjects). Applicants with marks much less than this will be required to undertake a foundation/access programme. We encourage students with A levels to apply, and students with strong marks can often enter the second year of a Strathclyde undergraduate programme.

Nigerian high school qualifications (WASSCE/NECO) are not normally sufficient for direct entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes and students with these qualifications will usually need to take a foundation programme.

National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with strong grades may be eligible for direct entry to undergraduate programmes.

Students with International Baccalaureate, A-Levels or American/Canadian High School Diplomas can also be considered for direct entry.
