Due to the wide variety of education and experience of applicants to this course, the selector considers each application on its own merits. Your experience and education must be at a sufficient level to allow the University to award the 240 credits (equivalent to Years 1 & 2 of the full-time Chemical Engineering BEng).

Example profiles of successful applicants include:

* Higher National Diploma (or international equivalent) in chemical engineering with some chemical engineering-related industrial experience
* Higher National Certificate (or international equivalent) in chemical engineering with significant related industrial experience
* Degree in a related discipline, eg Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering

For entry to Strathclyde undergraduate programmes we'd look for 70-75% in all subjects taken at level XII and the same at level X. Marks should be particularly strong in the proposed area of study.

Academic Requirements:

The Higher Secondary Certificate is sufficient to apply for undergraduate programmes at Strathclyde if excellent marks have been achieved (ie over 75% in all subjects). Applicants with marks much less than this will be required to undertake a foundation/access programme. We encourage students with A levels to apply, and students with strong marks can often enter the second year of a Strathclyde undergraduate programme.

National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with strong grades may be eligible for direct entry to undergraduate programmes.

Students with International Baccalaureate, A-Levels or American/Canadian High School Diplomas can also be considered for direct entry.
